Hymn Texts
  A Hymn For Mothers’ Day

Today we remember our mothers with pride,
those with us and those who’ve passed on,
they gave to us life, then let us decide
the pathway we’d journey along.
So let us today,
sing aloud of their faith,
and learn from their lives if we will,
for being a mother in this day and age,
is a challenge that lies with us still.

From Sarah to Mary, faith stories are told,
how they nurtured their children with skill.
Through hardship, and toil, they built their households,
their wisdom and faith touch us still.
So let us today,
sing aloud of their faith,
and learn from their lives if we will,
for being a mother in this day and age,
is a challenge that lies with us still.

Now thanks be for mothers, and fathers too,
who nurture our children with care,
who lead by example, with hope in their hearts
that our children in Christ’s love will share.
So let us today,
sing aloud of this faith,
and learn from the past if we will,
for being a mother in this day and age,
is a challenge that calls for great skill.

Bless This Child

We bring this child, Lord,
gift of creation,
to seek your blessing,
wisdom and grace.
Pour now your Spirit,
surround his presence,
watch o’er his growing,
bring him to faith.

Give to his parents
guidance and insight,
as they together
seek what is best,
for their child’s future,
for their home’s blessing,
for life’s adventure,
for every test.

These are our prayers Lord
for this occasion,
for child, for parents,
family and friends.
So may this moment
symbol of blessing,
speak now of Christ’s love
love without end.

Let The Children

Life is for the living,
so let the children live,
free from all fear and conflict,
our failures, Lord forgive.

Life is for the living,
so let the children live,
with nourishment and caring,
our failures, Lord forgive.

Life is for the living,
so let the children live,
with futures that are hopeful,
our failures, Lord forgive.

Life is for the living,
so let all children live,
in families that love them,
our failures, Lord forgive.
